Ingredients

Salad

  • 4 cups  frozen peas thawed and drained
  • 10 slices bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded or cubed
  • ½ cup red onion finely diced

Dressing

  • 1 cup  mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Cook the bacon until crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and allow to cool. Crumble into bite-sized pieces.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  • Add the thawed peas, crumbled bacon, cheddar cheese, and diced red onion to the bowl.
  • Gently stir until all ingredients are evenly coated with the dressing.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
  • Stir gently before serving and garnish with additional bacon and cheddar cheese if desired.

Notes

  • Pat thawed peas dry before mixing to prevent excess moisture.
  • Sharp cheddar provides the best flavor.
  • This salad tastes even better after chilling for several hours.
  • Reserve some bacon for garnish just before serving.
  • Do not freeze, as the dressing may separate.
