Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes! Prep all the ingredients in advance, but wait to add the Doritos until just before serving.

What’s the best way to store leftovers?

Keep the beef mixture, veggies, and Doritos in separate containers. Combine only what you’ll eat fresh.

Can I use different Dorito flavors?

Absolutely – Cool Ranch, Spicy Sweet Chili, or your favorite flavor all work great!

  • Family favorite – A recipe passed down from my mom, and loved for generations.
  • Quick & easy – Simple steps, ready in under 30 minutes.
  • Perfect for parties – Always one of the first dishes gone at any potluck.
  • Crunchy & cheesy – Nacho Cheese Doritos give it an irresistible flavor and crunch.

Ingredients

  • 1 large bag Dorito Nacho Cheese Chips, lightly crushed (not crumbs)
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 red onion, diced
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 head lettuce, shredded
  • 6 tomatoes, chopped
  • ½ cup Italian dressing
  • 2 cups ranch dressing

Instructions

1. Cook the beef: In a skillet, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat.

2. Season: Stir in the taco seasoning along with the Italian and ranch dressings. Simmer until the liquid is absorbed.

3. Prep veggies: Shred the lettuce, dice the onion, and chop the tomatoes.

4. Assemble the salad:

Option 1: Toss everything together in a large bowl – lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese, beef mixture, and crushed Doritos.

Option 2: Serve ingredients in separate bowls so guests can build their own salad. (This also makes leftovers easier to store!)

5. Serve & enjoy: Top with extra Doritos for crunch, and dig in!

Tips & Tricks

  • Switch up the protein: Try ground turkey, chicken, or even black beans for a lighter version.
  • Make it spicy: Add jalapeños or use Spicy Nacho Doritos.
  • Customize the dressing: Some families prefer using Catalina or French dressing for a sweet, tangy flavor.
  • Keep Doritos crisp: Add chips just before serving to keep them crunchy.
